Bits and Bobs
Manically trying to get the bits done before we jump on a plane...If I have to take one more box to the post office to mail I may scream...
Bazza spent most of the week trying to get our security cameras to be able to show up by us going through the internet instead of the local network. FINALLY did that. Most of these programs apparently only work with Internet Explorer so we have found out... We have cameras so we can see every part of the house and yard now.
This is my chin. You may ask why I took a picture of my chin, well it is because the turkey waddle is getting emptier and more wobbly! 34 lbs gone and counting now...
To go back I did manage to go get my hair cut and dyed...It is not an amusing process...
And the finished product, although I am not sure what the face is here...I don't smile well for cameras!
I still, however, manage to smile quite nicely when I am putting food in my mouth! We went out for the lobster buffet at Valleyview Casino the other night. it was good!
We enjoy this buffet, and the roast beef was equally as good, and I have a new favorite vegetable that i probably cannot get in the islands. Broccolini. I think I have spent too much time in the islands the last year, I did not even know about this vegetable!!!
Bazza of course, is looking less then impressed that I am taking pictures of him...
Bazza had tried his darndest to kill off about all the plants in the yard with Round Up. (My husband calls Geraniums WEEDS). My father did his darndest to revive them in the time he was done here.
Very diligently too I might add, he was out there daily watering and pruning...
And was so pleased when they started sprouting!
Well, I could not let them die again now could I? So we hired a gardener to come in and water and sweep and pick weeds..... Dad will be happier!

Another entirely different note, I really laughed at Walkers pictures of him tarpon fishing in Anegada...they reminded me of the infamous pictures I had put up of my husband and Brent wearing nothing but a conch shell in strategic places...
Cow Wreck Beach on Anegada people, I might have guests insisting we go there now weekly.....
Great Looking Tarpon anyways...
But they are just sport fish, and he was let go again to swim another day...
These are all his, and I assumed they were fine for me to put up on my blog as he put them on his forum here! Without white spots!!! You can see the whole series of pictures here at BVI PIrate
He has now given me more ideas for pictures of crew members...

and final catch up...
When you are on a roll, you might as well get it all up...Lisa will have 3 entries to read now, that should keep her happy for like, oh a minute and a half!
My parents brought their bikes down to CA from Victoria. They figured they might ride them more here where it is flat. God knows I won't be riding them, even with weight lose my behind ain't fitting on that seat!
We had a family outing this weekend. I am not sure what mom was up to. I think she is saying "aren't I cute" to my father and I think he is thinking "If I don't look at her I don't have to answer"
Yep, this us, all the little chidlets in the back.
We went down to the air show at Miramar. It was something the rest of the family wanted to do, but not necessarily my type of thing. It was hot. What else can I say but there was food!
We had bought "upgraded" packages so we only had to walking 3 miles each way in the blazing sun to get in. I think it took me a couple hours just to get cooled down!!
There were planes...
There was a guy who did things with a helicopter that I did not think could be done.
There were Harriets and the napalm demonstrations were "way cool" and Hornets and Raptors and all kinds of neat things...Including, in a bit of Canadian Pride here, the Snowbirds. Who did amazing things up there....
But as far as an impressive plane goes the Blue Angels were neat too!
I had to laugh as I had never seen so many expensive (very expensive) telephoto lenses in one place before!
My sister, the white one, stayed outside in the sun all afternoon. Can you perchance tell??????
Everyone flew back home Sunday afternoon. Leaving Bazza and I almost two weeks by ourselves, which as much as we love them, we were really looking forward too. Although, it figures, the next mail day after we shipped the large box of things to the islands a ton more showed up. Which meant they had to go by post and it took him several hours to sort it all out, repack it etc...
We have everything from car parts.....
To 8 new sinks...The only big thing that is missing now is my new cooktop which I better hunt down soon.
My friend Heather thought that she liked the look of my low calorie leek and potato soup. But i have to tell her it tastes much better with fat in it. Anyways, here is the recipe Heather. Or at least as close as I get with recipes!
Buy a couple bunches of leeks, clean and chop them. Put in a large pot with some peeled and diced potatoes. 4-5 maybe? I like potatoes so I put in a lot. Cover with water, throw in some salt and pepper and boil until soft. I usually keep the lid off and let some of the liquid boil down. At that point put in some 1% milk. depends how much you have in the pot, a couple cups maybe and let it simmer until everything is nice and soft and gooey. Maybe another 20 minutes or so?
I put in some fresh dill about this time and if you like caraway you can put some of that in. A bit of chicken bouillon helps it as well. When done I mix in a couple tablespoons of butter or margarine and some low fat sour cream as well. Let it all blend together.
It is going to taste good, and low fat but quite raw. Always better the next day!

A random week at home...
Well, my voice of conscience was a bit more then subtle when prompting me that I had not written a blog entry on here for almost a week! Even with a picture of her up she was not quite mollified! Ms Dixon is done in Canada, flying out to Jolly Old England tomorrow and then off to the jungles of Cambodia for a few weeks to ride a dirt bike in the Jungle! That does not appeal to me in any shape or form....
Lisa Dixon: 1 week no blog mrs? although it is a picture of me there so its ok! last day tomorrow, saw my bears yesterday!
So Lisa, here you go, a random set of boring images from the last week. And a note to all my friends that I owe emails to, that I have been too darn busy but next week is looking good.
I think I could call this picture "old folks on parade" My parents have enjoyed the pool just as much as I have I think, my dad liking to see how much water he can get outside the pool when he dives in!
Of course, a trip to the pool needs nourishment and we realized that we had about 18 boxes of low calorie ice cream treats in the freezer that none of us were going to be here very much longer to eat!
I went for my morning swim quite early one day and used up so many calories that I felt justified in having egg beaters, rye toast and ketchup for breakfast. Much different then my usual package of mandarin oranges and low fat string cheese.....
Talking about eating properly, the amount lost is almost 35 lbs...I should hit that before we go back to the islands. My sister kindly did a picture for me of what 35 lbs looks like. I almost don't want to put it up, but what the hell, at least I have clothes on!
Speaking of going back to the islands, the big push the last couple days has been to get the crap that has all arrived so far here down in close proximity to the yacht. Sigh. Actually easy to be done if you have lots of money!
Bazza is good at building boxes....
It is now packed up and on a truck on its way across the country to Tropical....we still have quite a few odds and ends that had not shown up yet, all the boat sinks (they sent ceramic and not acrylic the first time), A/C blowers, the stove top, and some car parts...
I know it is time to go back to the islands and work when the bank accounts up here empty out! And I thought I had brought way too much at the beginning of summer up! Ha!
For the first time since we have been here we had thunderstorms and actual rain. Good. The house needed cleaning! It did not stop my father from getting in the swimming pool though!
The sky was sure pretty though!!
For the very first time since arriving my thoughts turned to cooking more then a basic meal. I guess I am subconsciously thinking about having to cook for charters again this winter. So, I practiced my skills a bit...
I figured out how to make low fat cream of potato and leek soup. It was good, although I think it tastes better with more fat and more salt!
Any good Ukrainian should know what we are making here......
Yep, Putaha or perogies as most North Americans know it as. AND yep, you can make them low fat. Although you might as well just be mixing in plastic as the fat free cheese in the potatoes, but it was close enough that we were happy...
Sydney and Chris came down for the weekend, and took their turn in the swimming pool as well. We all love the pool!
My sister is giving me the typical Bazza look that says "really, do you REALLY need to take another picture of me for the blog??"
THe parents took us out for one to Sizzler, which I almost turned my nose up at as it is not my idea of a steak house, but surprisingly, it was very good, inexpensive and the salad buffet was quite good too. That will teach me for being a snob I guess!
Then it was off to the movie theater to see Wall Street.
I am THIS close to having the new web site up for yachtpromenade. It is up on a testing server and working fine, I just need a couple more hours of computer time. It looks good! Not only does it look good, since I decided that we were putting up a new site, about the time that I bought the boat back from Bruce, I have done nothing for updates on it besides changing the availability. I hate outdated web info...
In the next couple days!
