Everyone else can ignore it. I just wanted to put this up here so the search engines would pick it up in case there are other people out there in the world wide web that are looking for information, or conversely, have information that we need for our family and genetic trees...
Trying to get some of this done before I leave my VERY FAST internet connection next week for the horribly slow one in the islands.
Well, we now have family trees on GENI, and also on Ancestry. Ancestry is good with all their historical records, for anyone's info. We could just cross load them up.
My immediate family, just about all, have now done their DNA and medical stuff through both 23andme and Decodeme.
It is like a huge jigsaw puzzle that I find incredibly hard to put together, but rewarding when I do. If ANYONE has had genetic testing done, please point me in the direction of it so we can share more information.
We have the Halpogroups mapped out on the various sides, and in both the genetic sites I belong to, they have "relative matches" where they point you in the direction of potential relatives. It is quite interesting, and we have some interesting tidbits that I will try and share.
On my fathers side (Sidney Hucul) (the Hucul/Faykes combination)
His maternal (goes up the female line) Halpogroup is T1a. This is common in Europe, Near East, Palestinians, Turks and Syrians. Indeed, looking at him, it is no surprise that there is some middle eastern in him.
I have uploaded some pictures of the screen shots from the groups, so you can take a look from where it is and get more information. This is also held up by some of the "genetic hits" I have gotten from people with him from places like Turkey, who are pure Turkish.
In dads Paternal line (the Hucul side straight up the male line) his group is R1a1a. This is a very common group in Eastern Europe. Probably the most common. It is comprised, no surprise of Ukrainians, Poles and Indians. Again, I have uploaded a screen shot.
Most of the genetic matches we are getting for my father (Sidney Hucul) all seem to be from Ukraine, Russia etc.
On my mother side (Connie Hucul), We do not have the PATERNAL DNA on the Burbee side. You can only get it from direct males, so we would have to get one of her brothers to take the test. We do have a halpogroup from Dan McDonald going up the female line (Dan McDonald is Carrie Burbees nephew from her brother, so it goes up nicely from there) , (screen shot attached) and he is a R1. Which interestingly, dropped off people along the way in Eastern Europe before heading UK, Scandinavian Way.
On Connie Huculs maternal side, we have H6A, which does have some french and czechs in it, since we know there is french in the background somewhere it makes sense as well. I have a screen shot of that included in the pictures.
I am getting a lot more genetic hits on mom on family finder, Of course, lots of Scandinavian, French, and United Kingdom. We have a few "4th cousins" that we are in contact with genetically, now we just have to find the connections in our ancestry.
The more people that take the genetic tests, the more we can piece together. By comparing which strings on which chromosomes match, with some practice you can easily see whether they are relatives on the maternal side or paternal side.
Ancestry.com ties it all in well as they have so many historical data records scanned, it gives a very important piece of information in that MAIDEN names are listed, on both UK birth and Marriage certificates, which is really handy.
IN other Hucul question marks: We are trying to place Shelley Hucul in our family tree. We know the connection is somewhere. She just added her profile to our tree and she has her grandparents paternally as Aksentji Hucul and Wayslana Sobol who were from the RIGHT flipping same street as our family in Winnipeg but we don't have the connection yet. If anyone knows anything about that.
And, one last thing, my husband (Barry, Bazza Cooper) has a billion aunts and uncles in the UK that I just finished adding to my tree.
Every family seems to repeat the same names for generation after generation.
I know all this stuff is confusing and I am still a babe in the woods, but if anyone gets into the genetic stuff, I will look forward to getting together with you on that.
