It is 4:00 in the afternoon and we have been very fortunate that noone has joined us in the hurricane hole, nor has it rained for about 5 hours. It looks like it is just about to start though. That means we are in, tied up and tucked up, and tomorrow (as long as I have internet) I will put up some pics of the boat tied in. At least the maintenance session is done!
Apparently everyone in West End, boats and houses alike were swarmed with termites on Sunday night of the flying variety. This is what they look like...

We managed to get most of them dealt with! We went out yesterday morning (it seems like a year ago!) for a drive, and took our nice 4 wheel drive (too cold, did not need air conditioning in it yesterday!) and went around the West End. Took a couple pictures of the boat and the harbor from on top...

The dirt road in Belmont had recently been plowed, so it was pretty nice. There were a lot of branches, and telephone lines down though... Stopped at Cane Garden Bay to see my Canadian friend Sandra, who owns Mongoose Apartments and caught up with what was going on in their world. They are busy adding on another couple rooms this winter. She was telling me of another small hotel in the area that had debated whether to close or not for the off season and stayed open without really any business, but their electricity bill went from about $9000 to $22,000 and they did not really have any business! Imagine...I have heard that from lots of villas as well...

One Carnival Cruise Ship in so a few assorted taxies and people on the beach at Cane Garden Bay

Lots of little rock slides all over the place, loved it when this herd of goats let me come right up to them on the road and take a picture without scampering away as they normally do!

We were out walking a bit in the bush today (stories and pictures another day!) but we did see quite a few Millipedes....

Then we had the exciting news about Omar, so rushed to pick up our lines, always a sad sight!

Came into the hurricane hole in South Sound this morning, tons of conch as always on the beach here...

and have spent the fun day in the water and mangroves tying lines, putting out anchors and stripping the boat. Omar is scheduled to come right over us tomorrow night or the next morning, and we wonder how many boats are scrambling today to get tied down and safe.

I have had intermittent internet, so we shall post this when I have a connection and we are about done for the day. Even at the best case scenario we are going to be stuck in here for several days watching movies. Just went outside to look at the surf and it is really starting to pick up now on the reef.

Update:
At 5 PM 3 boats have joined us here, Ayaconara, Slipstream and another smaller one. They are now talking that this will be a cat 2 tomorrow night over us!!
