Well the merry adventurers are on their way back home from St Martin!
It is Wednesday about 6 PM as I type this I can just St Martin a couple hours back. Our quest for 16 new batteries was successful, except I really thought my husband was going to have a heart attack lifting them all in and off! I asked him a couple times if maybe he wanted to wait until Richy came back....

A couple boats that were on the dock with us. You cannot really tell from this picture, but Samba, is a real cruising boat, who I can only assume was cleaning house as they had everything from old rusty bicycles to old batteries outside and scattered around!

The woman on this purple boat must have gone a little stir crazy on a long passage or something, as EVERYTHING that could possibly have had something made to cover it was covered! I mean down to the GAS CANS sitting on the deck, the fenders, the cushions...AND to top it all off she had on a purple swimsuit that I am sure was made out of the same material!

Sheila and Bob, of Paradise Connections,
Sheilas Blog came over later yesterday afternoon for a visit. They live on their boat outside the bridge here at Simpson Bay, and they sell charters and blog! They tell me the boat is going to be going to Guadeloupe this year...We will see! While out for dinner we fed the restaurant cat...

and went to Port Royale and all thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. I had french onion soup that i have not had for decades and it was wonderful. Lisa loved her goat cheese and then we have everything from steak to pizza and melted chocolate cake along with a lot of good conversation! I was trying very hard to use and practice my french here in St martin and everyone kept on speaking back to me in english! I did not think that I was that bad, but when I went up to the bar and asked for the bathroom in pretty good french I thought, they replied "oh, you are american, the toilet is over there" I then gave up!

It was a late night for us, we were out until after 11 I believe! Unheard of! This morning we had to take our last opportunity to eat at the french bakery for breakfast. This is breakfast for 4. Apparently it contained a lot of sugar, the sandwich was mine (i don't like sweets in the AM but my husband more then makes up for me!)

The next thing on our list was a shopping trip to Cost U less, as it was one of the reasons we convinced Bazza to come over here, as we would save so much money on other things. The only flaw in our plan was that Cost U less was closed, as was most everything else going to be on the dutch side in a couple hours for carnival for about 5 days!
Before I came down to the boat last time, Lisa emailed me and asked me to bring Coriander, so I did. She said she had scoured tortola and St Thomas for it. Then we were commenting on how they had lots in St martin, so we bought a couple more jars on top of the 4 I brought. Then in the last store, Richard threw a large container in the cart and Lisa laughed herself silly when I then came up carrying this large sac of Coriander!

What do people do with this much coriander? I think we use about one large jar a year, and throw away half of it at the end of season as it loses its flavor. Apparently we are now accepting donations for any and all recipes with coriander, and we can even send some home with you!
After our shopping it was time to have our last french meal (of course, what else do you think we do on vacation but eat!) and Lisa made a big platter of all kinds of yummy stuff that I never knew one little girl like Lisa could put so much in here belly. With both hands! It was wonderful, and if we based out of St martin we would do a cold cut tray like this every week, as it beats ours all to hell! (Sorry, Promenade, but the french just do bread, cheese and cold cuts better, although we do get some fairly good cheeses in Tortola!)

This is Promenade sitting on the dock in St Martin just before we pulled out. We found the price of some things here very expensive, and other things very inexpensive. For instead, I am not used to paying $11.00 for one hour of internet!! I am glad I don't have to shop in Euros often. The dutch side was kinder to the US dollar with the dutch guilders!

I want to do a dive at the fishbowl on the way home tonight, but Bazza tells me we won't be able to anchor there, that it will be too rough and the thought of the boat circling at 1 AM waiting for me, is not that appealing, so probably straight home! Yep, straight home, we are an hour away from our mooring, it is 1230 in the morning, which means it will end up taking us about 12 hours to get back to the BVI! Nothing of interest at all on the voyage back.
