Kerri , sure looks like you are enjoying yourselfs ......good for you.
I could not find any other way to contact . I have a question about the plastic kayaks that you can on Promenade, or I should say that you had when you owned Promenade. I have been reading that a plastic one that lives in the sun and heat in the south can be expected to last only five years. I was hoping to get more than this out of one. I have not yet made a purchase, Just doing the required research........What is your opinion on this and what size would you recommend for poking around in the harbours ? I figure you over anyone should have the answer to this with all your experience. By the way , miss you on the Promenade Blog altho Bruce and Lisa are doing a great job...... good luck karin nason
We do get more then 5 years out of them. Some are close to ten on the boat. However, the light colors disintegrate much faster, I think the one year we bought a yellow one I don't even think it made it to 5 years!
I would go with as LIGHT and NOT BULKY as can be. Something with a rudder steers much better AND definitely something that has seat backs on it, otherwise your back kills you. Even the plastic ones you can get seat backs for (although the clasps on them rust pretty quickly in the salt water, we don't leave them on there all the time and take them off in between when we remember) We also strip any metal on the kayaks off that is non essential, if it has any on either the seat backs or kayaks to help them last longer.. |
