Eco-Sailing™ with Serendipity – or Sailing with nature.
Discover the best that nature has to offer in the British Virgins by sailing on Serendipity with captain/guide and enthusiastic ecologist – Trish Baily. Trish has lived in the BVI for many years and been very involved in coral reef protection, co-ordinating Reef Check in the islands, and founding the BVI’s first environmental Non Governmental Organization .
Her knowledge is diverse and she loves to share it with you. Beyond the reefs she loves to explore on land, and has catered to clients of all ages seeking an “involvement” in the islands. Her charters have catered to rock climbers, photographers, bird watchers, kids pirate treasure hunts, kite boarders, divers, and simply vacationers eager to relax but wanting to leave with a better understanding of the environment in which they have been traveling. Knowing the islands intimately Trish can make sure that you will get the very best experience that the prevailing weather conditions, & seasonal variations can offer. She will know when the migratory birds are coming in, where and when you may spot a whale, what reef will provide good snorkeling when you are on the boat, and when the orchids will be flowering.
She discourages hard set itineraries and calls her approach to a trip as “ opportunistic”. If its windy there will be great sailing and then tuck into a calm anchorage for quiet calm swimming and snorkeling. If it happens to be dead calm she will grab the opportunity to head off to explore reefs normally not accessible on windy days – If you want a good walk then she knows the trails both long and short to give you the best views , and if you prefer to laze on the boat then nature is still smiling on you and a turtle may pop its head up from time to time just to make sure you are OK.

“Tortola looked wild as we sailed along the sparsely populated North Coast. We anchored in Brewer’s Bay, alone, over a wedge of sandy bottom flanked by shallow reefs. Off the point to the north we swam through curtains of small fry suspended in the water. They opened a passageway for us. And then opened again as five tarpon circled, 4 ft long, full bodied fish with burnished scales and down-turned mouths like
herrings." |
