I first saw this yacht and met the crew at the fall boat show in St Thomas. There is a shortage of smaller, nice motor yachts in our area and for a twenty year old yacht, they keep her in remarkable shape. She has all the amenities from full air conditioning to satellite TV, wireless internet, and a Hobie Cat and waterski's. To keep your thirst and hunger at bay besides the snacks baskets in the bridge/slash computer room, they also have a popcorn machine on the back deck and a club soda machine in the saloon!

We had the chance to sit down and talk with them over the spring boat show in Tortola here, and gathered a few insights into the yacht and crew. This boat is best for families, as opposed to all couples, as the third couple would either be in a climb up pullman with a single underneath or large twins. The cabins all show very nice, with thick carpet throughout. Since the fall bot show, I see from my pictures that they have replaced their cabin curtains, and they have new granite countertops in the heads. This strikes me as a nice motor yacht, one that I would like to go on, when I did not want to be right down at water level and in the water a lot. I think it would be best for guests who are semi casual, enjoy good conversation and good food, with the chef's specialty being Italian. This is NOT a party boat at all, and you should be self sufficient. That is not to say that you will not have plenty of alcohol available, just some yachts lend themselves more to parties then others do. Older guests in attitude or age would also enjoy this yacht with it's amenities.

I asked the crew what some of their favorite anchorages were and why and they told me probably the first thing they look for in anchoring is flat water. They like Francis Bay on St John, but with their size are restricted to where they can anchor on St. John. They have air conditioning all the time, and a motion stabilizer. They also love North Sound up by the Bitter End area and guests often enjoy taking a cab ride for the gorgeous views on Virgin Gorda down to the Baths while they take the yacht down.

Pattam offers SCUBA diving by rendezvous, although they have made arrangements for a divemaster to come on board in the past if necessary. They do have a ladder at the aft for easy water access. One thing that struck me was the tender, it is large, but industrial looking, I think from their past days of having a larger expedition yacht! This also gives the yacht a casual feel.

PATTAM is a NON smoking boat, however, if you need to you can go down on the SWIM platform only for a smoke.
