about us
Bazza and I have sailed, dived, and chartered the waters of the British Virgin Islands over ten years. We thought it would be a shame to let this knowledge we have about the BVI go to waste in our advancing ages (not that we are that old yet!) It was a natural progression for us to make use of all the connections, knowledge and systems that we have put in place over that time to market our own boat, Promenade, to good use and offer our knowledge and services to our people who may not not know much about the best type of vacation in the world...a yacht charter! We still do the occasional charter to keep our "hand in the pie" but leave most of them to our capable crew who run Yacht Promenade, Richard and Lisa.
Chad Blake. Chad, rejoined the company after a few years absence to concentrate on corporate charters, group charters and learn the mega yacht market. He is the most upbeat person I think I know! We are a family run business, and our strength has ALWAYS been customer service in every business we have ever owned. Chad knows the yacht industry from both sides, and is excited to be working in a business that he has long loved. "I have loved the water, people and traveling my entire life. I spent years working down in the Caribbean on charter yachts and since then have excelled in Public Relations, Promotions and organizing events back in Canada. If you are looking for someone who can put together a charter for many people, a great party, a honeymoon of a lifetime, or a luxurious mega yacht vacation, I have the energy and enthusiasm to work with you to make your dreams come true. I love being back in the charter industry again and pride myself on finding out everything I can about the different yachts and vacation areas."
Getting ready for the spring boat show. Not exactly their best picture ever! I think my husband was wondering what kind of shirt I was making him wear, but believe me you need nice light shirts for walking the hot docks at the Boat Shows in the Marinas!
Chad had put together a large binder of all the boat that were going to be in the show, with what he thought was current information to check out, along with the questions. I think it scared some yachts when he walked on with it! Glad to see thoroughness.
You follow etiquette at a boat show, ask to come on board and that no other broker is already on board, take your shoes off, pass out a business card as you introduce yourself.
Meeting the new crew on Sea Chateau. A beautiful boat
On Centre Court, Arno and Petra are long time charter hosts in the BVI, so with the laughter and the amount of time they spent talking, I am guessing that they were talking more the technical side of yachts then selling charters! Bazza can instantly tell us whether a boat has dirty bilges, diesel leaks, faulty heads, just by smelling a boat. That takes many years of experience to pick out exactly what the smell is! And no, Centre Court had no odors at all, it smelt great!
Kerry Lynn Hucul-Cooper. "I have always been involved with the customer service industry in some way, from doing Advertising and PR for large Hotels and Dinner Theaters, to owning a Chicken and Rib Restaurant for 6 years. I have lived in countries from Europe to Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean, and been self employed for twenty years. After teaching SCUBA and kayaking in the Bay of Fundy's frigid waters, I decided to make my trips south a permament
way of life. We found exactly what we were looking for when we found the charter yacht Promenade! We ran charters on it for ten years before handing it over to a younger more energetic crew, as I had always done the booking end of the business, this was a natural progression. I hold my MCA Yachtmaster Offshore, have been a SCUBA Instructor for many years, with thousands of dives & underwater photography a particular enjoyment. I have a passion for the out of the way spots in the Caribbean that I have learnt over the years and look forward to sharing them with you. I am working on a couple underwater books on the BVI. As proprietor, I concentrate on the details to make a perfect charter vacation for guests, taking pictures of all the yachts we visit so you can see what they look like from our point of view, not only from brochures and websites. I (attempt) to keep the websites up to date, and if you have a question about the British Virgin Islands, probably know the answer!
Barry(Bazza) Hucul-Cooper.I was born in England and raised in Australia where I had a passion for all things on and in the water from a young age. My background runs the gamut from Marine Engineer, Boat Building, Shark Fishing, to Race Car Engineer. While running our charter yacht in the Caribbean, I had the distinction of being the first person to receive a local MCA Marine Engineering ticket, I hold my Yachtmaster and still am a PADI SCUBA Diving Instructor. Besides still doing the engineering on the yacht we own, and working on the technical side of yacht charter brokering, I am working on developing some underwater machinery to use both in the in commercial and tourist side of the industry.
So, we truly do believe that we have the long term repuation, knowledge and integrity to be honest and thorough in helping you plan your yacht charter vacation!
